Chauen International Festival
Artistic Director and Producer
For one week in the summer of 2004, over 100 artists from Morocco, Europe, and Latin America gathered in Chefchaouen, transforming the streets and squares with site-specific art: music, painting, dance, and film.
The most unique aspect of this festival was the interaction between artists and the local community. Artists and locals participated in workshops and organized activities, including shared meals with families and visits to hammams. Additionally, the festival collaborated with local associations to address relevant issues and foster active participation, with a particular emphasis on engaging women. You can view some examples of the festival activities in this website, or visit the Chauen International Festival website here.

As Artistic Director, I curated and programmed all activities in iconic venues throughout the city. As Producer, I managed logistics and technical requirements, facilitated communication between artists and the local community, and secured funding, obtaining support from the Moroccan Ministry of Culture, the City Council, and the Cervantes Institute, among others.
